Join us at Sanctuary Mandela for a live jazz event this Freedom Day, 27th April 2022. Freedom Day marks the first South African democratic elections in 1994 and we have a special afternoon planned to celebrate this day here at Sanctuary Mandela, the home that Madiba previously lived in during this time.

Featuring an incredible 4-person Jazz band who have previously wowed guests here, you do not want to miss it! Our live jazz band is made up of Phil Holder (Saxophone), Johan Mthethwa (Piano), Dan Berglund (Drums), Concord Nkabinde (Bass Guitar). The awesomely lyrical and great interpreter of melody, Phil Holder, is a household name as a Saxophonist in the South African Jazz scene. Johan Mthethwa is a gifted and a versatile Pianist. He is one of the first call South African pianists & keyboardists for decades, performing and recording with countless well-established Musicians. Dan Berglund, a Drummer with 13 professional years of playing drums and classical percussion under his belt, continues to play drums just for the joy of making music. Soweto-born Creative Artist in Music, Concord Nkabinde, has worked with many internationally acclaimed Artists as a Bass Guitarist, Composer, Producer & Music Educator.
